About the Role

SFBATCO is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and highly organized Temporary HR & Business Manager to provide organizational stability and administrative leadership during an important period of transition.

Following the departure of SFBATCO's Managing Director in September 2026 and during the planned leave of the organization's Director of Operations beginning later this fall, the Temporary HR & Business Manager will help maintain the financial, human resources, compliance, administrative, and operational systems necessary for the organization to function successfully.

During this period, responsibilities will be intentionally distributed among SFBATCO's Artistic Director, Director of Development & Marketing, Director of Operations, administrative staff, Board leadership, and the HR & Business Manager.

The Manager will take primary responsibility for a defined portfolio of SFBATCO's day-to-day business infrastructure, allowing artistic, development, and program staff to remain focused on their primary areas of leadership.

  • Prepare financial information and reporting for organizational and Board leadership.
  • Coordinate routine administration related to audits and tax preparation.
  • Support tracking and allocation of restricted and grant-funded expenditures.
  • Manage routine deposits and financial documentation.
  • Coordinate invoices, reimbursements, and payments for approval by authorized organizational signatories.
  • Maintain accurate and accessible financial and business records.

  • Maintain HR documentation and support employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Coordinate leave administration and other routine HR processes.
  • Develop and recommend updates to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Monitor required business registrations, nonprofit filings, insurance documentation, and other routine compliance obligations.
  • Coordinate responses to unemployment claims and government correspondence.
  • Coordinate certificates of insurance and related insurance requirements.
  • Identify personnel, HR, or compliance matters requiring escalation to the Artistic Director, Board leadership, legal counsel, or outside HR professionals.

In partnership with the Artistic Director and appropriate department leaders, the Manager will:

  • Support contracting for artists, production personnel, vendors, venues, consultants, and organizational partners.
  • Track contractual deadlines, insurance requirements, payment schedules, and other obligations.
  • Maintain organized records of executed agreements and key organizational documents.
  • Provide administrative and business support for negotiations led by the Artistic Director or appropriate department leader.
  • Help ensure that important organizational deadlines, commitments, and administrative processes have clear ownership and follow-through.
