Job summary

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, seeks Archeological Field Technicians for immediate temporary, project-based, full-time employment in Gainesville, VA.

You will participate in survey and excavations, document field notes, and assist with artifact processing while traveling to project sites up to 50% of the time. A Bachelor's degree and field experience are required; valid driver's license and physical endurance are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Archeology or closely related field, plus field school or 3 months field experience.
• Willingness to travel; per diem and lodging provided on projects more than ~90 miles from the office.
• Physical ability to conduct archeological surveys in various settings and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk and work on diverse terrains in all weather for extended periods.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Participating in archeological survey, excavations and laboratory work under staff direction.
• Artifact identification and processing.
• Preparing accurate field notes and documentation.
• Interpreting soil strata and preparing field maps of excavations and site features.
