Temporary Faculty Pool, Art & Design – Art History

Location: Southern California (Dominguez Hills)

Appointment Type: Temporary

Time Basis: Time Varies

The Department of Art and Design at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) offers three distinctive B.A. degrees—Art, Art History, and Design—along with related minors. The department values diversity and seeks highly qualified, motivated, and organized faculty to teach in these areas.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum.
  • Serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or a related discipline.
  • Preference given to candidates with prior college or university-level teaching experience and evidence of strong teaching.
  • Experience teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or a related discipline.
  • A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience required for teaching upper‑division Art History courses (300‑ or 400‑level).
Employment Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.

In accordance with the California State University (CSU) Out‑of‑State Employment Policy, CSU prohibits hiring employees to perform CSU‑related work outside of California.

Salary and Benefit Information

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank, with classification salary ranges provided by the CSU system as of July 2024.

The CSU system offers a competitive total compensation benefits package for employees and qualifying dependents, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance.
