Job Description: Diesel/Pump Mechanic
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pump Mechanic to join our team at Fischer-Bush Equipment, a leading water transfer pump rental company serving the oil and gas industry. The Pump Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of water transfer pumps and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water transfer pumps, including hydraulic equipment, valves, compressors, motors, and controls.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operation.
- Conduct inspections and tests to identify wear, damage, or potential malfunctions.
- Replace or repair defective parts, such as blowout packing, seals, and bearings.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and effective job execution.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior mechanics and other staff as needed.
- Inspect and diagnose diesel-powered pumps and related equipment to identify issues and maintenance needs.
- Perform repairs, replacements, and routine maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other associated parts.
- Be available for field visits in case of sudden breakdowns or emergencies.
- Test repaired vehicles to ensure proper functionality.
- Conduct oil changes and other fluid-related tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
Requirements:
- Ability to diagnose and repair engines from trouble codes.
- Ability to diagnose and replace major external components.
- Ability to diagnose and repair all brake and axle components.
- Ability to diagnose and replace complete trailer electrical system.
- Ability to diagnose and repair basic vacuum pump components.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing no-start and priming issues.
- Ability to flush mechanical seal oil and test for proper seal function.
- Ability to diagnose and repair pump end components.
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in tearing down and repairing pump end and components.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, and replace wiring harnesses.
- Competence in diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding turbos.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing DPF systems.
- Ability to tear down and repair vacuum pumps.
- Skill in diagnosing and repairing venturi prime systems.
- Experience in replacing and programming injectors.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair rocker assemblies and components.
- Proficiency in utilizing diagnostic software thoroughly.
