Job summary

Fourth Floor in New York is seeking a skilled Sweater Designer for a temporary full-time contract. The candidate will conceptualize trends for the Junior brand, design knit and woven sweaters, and coordinate with costing, production, and sales teams.

Responsibilities include creating tech packs, proto specs, CAD sketches, and organizing samples and showroom displays, while maintaining strong communication with buyers and factories to ensure proper fit and finish.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in sweater design or related fashion design.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Illustrator.
• Experience creating tech packs and coordinating BOMs.
• Knowledge of Cut & Sew Knits, Sweaters, and Woven fabrics.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced fashion environment and handle multiple projects.

• Maintain strong communication with Buyer, Sales, and Factory.
• Create tech packs with proto spec, detail pages, and BOM follow-up.
• Participate in fittings with technical design and production.
• Create initial CAD sketches for sales pitches.

Our client is hiring for a Sweater Designer to join the team in New York! This is a temporary contract role. Hours are full-time.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a positive attitude and be a strong team player.
• Conceptualize and design into current trends as they relate to the Junior brand.
• Sample shopping & returns, in person and online, from European and domestic markets for emerging trends and inspiration.
• Merchandise and present print, color, silhouette, fabrication, trends ideas, and inspiration for coming seasons.
• Responsible for meeting with costing teams and creating recap charts for customer projects.
• Organize original sample & proto-sample chart along with showroom.
• Review and comment on proto sample layout & lab dips.
• Strong communication & writing skills needed with Buyer/ Sales/ Factory.
• Create tech packs along with proto spec, and detail pages, maintain proto sample, and follow up to BOM.
• Actively participate in "fitting" with technical design and production to ensure the garment's proper fit.
• Create initial CAD sketches to present to sales and buyers.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience required.
• Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office (Works, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and illustrator
• Knowledge of spec measurement of garment for initial tech pack & review fitting adjustment.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced fashion environment & prioritize multiple projects.
• Knowledge of Cut & Sew Knits, Sweaters, and Woven fabrication.
