Job description

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Temporary Dental Assistant - Park Ridge, Brooklyn.

The Dental Assistant assists the dentist in all modalities of dentistry, including operative, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. The assistant practices four-handed dentistry and upholds standards of care related to infection control, OSHA guidelines, and safety at their assigned station. Responsibilities include exposing, developing, and mounting radiographs; setting trays; preparing rooms; assuring patient comfort; sterilizing handpieces; transporting instruments for sterilization; identifying inoperable equipment; performing light lab work; documenting patient records as dictated by the dentist; and complying with all departmental policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with hospital, health center, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide chairside assistance to the dentist using proper four-handed dentistry procedures, universal precautions, sterile techniques, and safety protocols.
  • Provide care based on patients' physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-related criteria.
  • Pour, trim, and document patient study models and records accurately.
  • Assist the dentist in charting, filling out forms, and processing patient records.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and handpieces following Infection Control Manual guidelines.
  • Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
  • Ensure patient comfort while waiting for the dentist.
  • Maintain an organized and clean dental operatory, ensuring availability of instruments and supplies.
  • Expose, develop, and mount radiographs when applicable.
  • Uphold infection control standards and OSHA safety guidelines at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma and 1 year of chairside dental assisting experience.

Qualified candidates must communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
