Job description

Delivery Driver Helper

The Delivery Driver Helper assists Sherwin-Williams Delivery Service ("SWDS") drivers in making deliveries to customers and stores within a metropolitan area. This involves riding with the driver to each destination, helping unload products, maintaining safety awareness, and performing other duties as assigned. The typical work hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but may vary based on business volume and customer demands.

This is a temporary position for a 90-day assignment.

The role involves contact with customers, including minors, and access to cash, electronic equipment, personal information, merchandise, and other valuables. Therefore, a criminal history review is conducted to ensure safety and protect the company's operations, reputation, and stakeholders.

Job Duties
  1. Assist driver in loading and unloading materials, following safety procedures and traffic regulations, and capturing delivery signatures and photos via handheld device.
  2. Contact customers and/or stores prior to delivery and pickup.
  3. Work a varied schedule depending on delivery needs.
  4. Spend many hours riding in the passenger seat of a truck or van; driving is not required.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Legally authorized to work without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to retrieve materials from shelves and floor stacks, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and 70 lbs. occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid, unrestricted Driver's License.
  • At least one year of experience with material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks).
  • At least one year of experience in delivery, retail, or customer service roles.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in more than one language, including Spanish.
