Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator/Instructor BS for a temporary six-month assignment with a hospital option to extend. The role supports orientation, staff development, and evidence-based practice across nursing staff at the Central Center for Nursing Excellence, with a focus on adult learning and clinical leadership.

The position requires a BSN, MSN/DNP/PhD preferred, MA licensure, and 2+ years of nursing leadership experience.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• MSN (or) DNP (or) PhD preferred.
• Current certification required or to be attained within two-year period from date of hire.
• Current nursing licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Minimum two years of clinical experience as a clinical nurse with demonstrated evidence of leadership progression.
• Demonstrated evidence of competent nursing practice in clinical area or specialty.
• Competency in adult learning principles and a sound clinical nursing knowledge base.
• Teaching experience and/or preceptor experience required.
• Current knowledge of clinical equipment (e.g. Baxter pump, Zoll, glucometer) required.
• Experience demonstrating and teaching basic nursing clinical tasks required.
• Recent Clinical Nurse Educator experience required.
• EPIC training preferred.
• Microsoft Office experience considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with central classes and orientation activities.
• Identify learning needs of patients and staff.
• Facilitate opportunities and developmental experiences for staff to precept, teach, and mentor others.
• Facilitate educational offerings incorporating new initiatives, products, equipment, policies or regulations.
• Track and monitor orientation progress for nursing hires.
• Support competency training and HealthStream completion.
• Conduct ongoing evaluation of educational offerings using evidence and cost-effectiveness.
• Serve as a nursing practice leader, coach and mentor to staff.
• Participate in self-performance appraisal and seek feedback from nurse leaders and peers.
• Provide formal and informal opportunities for staff to develop personal career goals.
• Facilitate and support peer-to-peer education.
• Provide informal consultation on education and practice issues.
• Participate in committees and task forces designated by Professional Development Manager.
• Initiate and maintain effective collaborative relationships.
• Respond to requests for education and training.
• Participate in developing nursing department policies and procedures.
• Provide direct patient care in planned and emergent situations.
• Serve as a role model delivering expert care.
• Engage in direct patient care experiences to promote critical thinking and decision making.
• Model clinical decision-making in the clinical setting.
• Provide direct clinical support for orientation and training.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to manage emergency clinical situations.
• Lead training and education programs.
