This is a temporary (full-time) AFSCME like position and can work for no more than 9 months.

As a Civil Engineering Specialist, you will perform civil engineering construction inspections, including but not limited to roads, sidewalks, bike paths, bridges, buildings, structures, sewers, water mains, landfills, and environmental projects. Responsibilities include:

1. Plan review and inspection of construction
2. Ordinance enforcement
3. Traffic control
4. Basic design, drafting, and surveying tasks

Additional responsibilities include:

1. Performing drafting duties in support of civil engineering projects using computer-aided drafting (currently AutoCAD)
2. Records and data management
3. Office work associated with surveying and construction inspection functions
4. Field surveying and assisting in construction inspection

Specialty Track 1 - All Construction Inspection related work, including but not limited to:

• Road, sidewalk, and path inspection
• Sewer inspection
• Water main inspection
• Construction traffic control

Education, Training and Experience Required:

• High School Diploma / GED
• Minimum 3 years of progressive construction inspection, surveying, or drafting experience
• Must attend all Safety Training required by Supervisor or Regulatory agencies
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, processes, procedures, principles, and practices for:
• Road Work, Sidewalks, and Bike paths
• Sewers
• Water Mains
• Construction traffic control
