Job summary

HEI Hotels and Resorts is seeking a Guest Service associate at The Westin New York Grand Central to provide hospitable, accurate cash handling and guest service. You will process payments, balance the cash drawer, and assist guests with inquiries while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

This on-site role requires strong math and communication skills, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset to support a premium experience for hotel guests in New York City.

Qualifications

• Basic mathematical skills to operate a cash register and handle payments.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and correct inaccuracies in checks or totals.
• Proficiency with a keyboard and POS procedures; able to sit/stand as needed.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Receive and inspect guest checks and process payments accurately.
• Balance cash drawer and manage bank deposits.
• Ensure attendance and availability for regular shifts.
• Assist guests and resolve issues to maintain a positive guest experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Compensation

Salary Range: $32.55 - $42.45 HourlyTipped/Service Charge Eligible? NoDiscretionary Performance Bonus Eligible? No

Overview

Serve guests in a hospitable manner to ensure positive guest experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receives and visually inspects guest check for any inaccuracies, then closes the check to the proper method of payment, (i.e., cash, credit card or house charge).
• Ascertains guest satisfaction; in the event of dissatisfaction, tactfully negotiates accommodation.
• Complies with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, check total verification, tip disbursement, cash drawer and house bank management.
• Balance house bank at the end of the shift. *Retrieves and returns bank from vault to workstation and return, to ensure accountability.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges and understand portion sizes as relating to pricing.
• Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations, such as inaccurate check total.
• Ability to operate a keyboard and Point of Sale procedures. Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc. Hourly rate $32.55-$42.45
