Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking a Temporary Groundskeeper to maintain exterior landscapes, irrigation systems, and field areas on campus. The role requires safe operation of grounds equipment and the ability to work independently or in teams.

This temporary employment position offers a Monday–Friday schedule with comprehensive benefits for temporary staff, including paid vacation and sick leave. The pay rate listed is $26.64 per hour, with additional employer-provided benefits as described in the policy

Qualifications

Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
Knowledge and skill to operate commonly used grounds equipment and tools in a safe manner.
Experience in operating trenchers, tractors, rototillers and other commonly used pieces of power-driven grounds equipment.
Knowledge and ability to install and maintain irrigation equipment.
Ability to effectively work independently or in teams.
Knowledge of the proper procedures for safely handling and applying toxic materials such as fertilizers and pesticides.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and perform maintenance of exterior landscapes, including gardening, planting, tree care, and playing-field upkeep.
Manage erosion control, pest management, and exterior fire-prevention projects.
Repair and maintain irrigation systems and grounds-maintenance equipment.
