Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist providers with examinations, treatments, and various procedures in a clinical setting. This temporary role supports multiple clinical tasks, prepares exam rooms, and ensures compliance with policies and safety standards.

The position requires at least 1000 hours of back-office experience, a health career school diploma, Basic Life Support, and bilingual English/Spanish Level II proficiency.

Qualifications

• 1000 hours of back office experience required (within 1 year).
• Health career school diploma.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level II required.

Responsibilities

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
• Assists physician with therapeutic and diagnostic patient care functions including sterile technique and wound care.
• Explains standard self-care procedures as directed by the provider.
• Provides assistance in the exam room: positioning, draping, and passing instruments in a sterile manner.
• Assists with procedures such as sigmoidoscopy, cystoscopy, biopsy, lumbar puncture and more under direct supervision.
• Prepares treatment room, sets up equipment and maintains proper BSI precautions.
• Carries out physician orders and documents test forms and lab slips.
• Screens incoming calls and relays information to the provider and patient as directed.
• Performs basic lab tests (dip-stix urine tests, pregnancy tests, etc.).
• Maintains a clean work place and participates in staff education and meetings.
• Participates in Code Blue emergencies and supports customer service excellence.
