The Temporary Benefits Program Specialist provides critical support to the Benefits team during a period of significant strategic and operational activity. This position is responsible for the administration, compliance, communication, and continuous enhancement of Rockland Trust's employee benefits and retirement programs, while serving as a liaison for HRIS-related system testing, enhancements, implementations, and integrations. Acting as a subject matter expert, the role partners with Human Resources, business leaders, vendors, brokers, consultants, third-party administrators, and technology teams to ensure benefit programs remain compliant with federal and state regulations, competitive in the marketplace, and aligned with colleague and organizational needs.

In addition to supporting the day-to-day administration of benefit programs, this temporary position will provide project and operational support for a variety of strategic benefits initiatives, process improvement efforts, systems enhancements, enrollment activities, and employee education programs. The incumbent will help coordinate projects, support system testing and data validation, facilitate vendor and stakeholder relationships, and assist with communications and change management efforts to ensure a seamless employee experience and successful execution of departmental objectives. This is a highly collaborative, hands‑on role that requires the ability to balance strategic project work with routine benefits administration, shifting seamlessly between high-level initiatives and the day-to-day operational activities necessary to support colleagues and the organization.

Benefits Administration & Compliance

• Support the administration of employee benefits, retirement, and related programs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, reporting requirements, and internal policies.
• Maintain benefits documentation, procedures, and vendor-related records.
• Serve as a resource for colleagues, managers, and HR partners on benefits-related matters.

Vendor Management & Benefits Operations

• Manage relationships with benefit carriers, brokers, consultants, and third-party administrators.
• Support HRIS and benefits system testing, enhancements, implementations, and ongoing operations.
• Assist with vendor performance reviews, contract management, and compliance activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, service delivery, and operational effectiveness.

Strategic Projects & Implementation Support

• Support strategic benefits initiatives, program enhancements, systems improvements, and operational projects.
• Coordinate implementation activities, vendor onboarding, data validation, system integrations, and testing efforts.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and continuity of service.
• Monitor project progress and support issue resolution throughout implementation activities.
• Assist with change management, employee communications, and process improvement initiatives related to benefits programs and technology.

Employee Communications & Enrollment

• Develop and support benefits communications, education, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Assist with open enrollment planning, execution, and employee support activities.
• Create communication materials and participate in employee meetings, webinars, and educational events.
• Help ensure a positive employee experience during benefit changes and enrollment activities.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of employee benefits, retirement plans, and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting benefits implementations, systems enhancements, process improvement initiatives, or large-scale benefits projects preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in both strategic and hands‑on capacities, balancing project work, process improvement initiatives, and routine administrative responsibilities.
• Ability to manage complex situations, build effective relationships, and drive process improvements.
• Strong project management, communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
