Job description

Job Title: Automobile Test Technician - Impact Lab

The Automobile Test Technician - Impact Lab will be responsible for:

  1. Management of the instrumentation required to collect data on vehicles, sub-systems, and components.
  2. Ensuring the highest quality data is recorded and processed to efficiently analyze data needed for all projects.
  3. Reviewing test plans with engineers to understand what equipment is needed to acquire data under specified load cases.
  4. Selecting appropriate data acquisition systems, transducers, and determining their placement on the vehicle or sub-system.
  5. Using hands-on experience with data acquisition and data processing software.
  6. Responsible for instrumentation and calibration of transducers and data acquisition systems for the given application.
  7. Preparing test setups, conducting tests, and acquiring data independently or with engineer support.
  8. Saving, processing, analyzing data, and creating reports.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, data acquisition, and vehicle testing.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office).
  • Valid driver's license with no more than 2 points.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of an A.A.S. degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or a similar discipline.
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing and experience setting up and conducting tests.
  • Experience with data acquisition and processing using Siemens Test Lab, Head Acoustics' Artemis, or similar software.
  • Experience with NVH instrumentation (e.g., accelerometers, force transducers, tachometers, microphones).
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with Chrysler Diagnostic Application.
