Job summary

The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, seeks a temporary Associate Video Producer/Editor to help create videos and set up live streams for our website, YouTube, and streaming channel. The role reports to the Manager of Digital and Streaming Video and collaborates with other video producers, reporters, and the programming team.

This in-office position requires a highly creative candidate with solid news judgment and the ability to work nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience or internship in a video environment.
  • Experience or knowledge in pitching and assisting on video packages.
  • Keen eye for strong and dynamic visual design and news judgment with interest in politics.
  • Ability to multitask and learn audience engagement analytics.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop.
  • ENPS knowledge is helpful.
  • Highly resourceful team player able to work independently.
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, television production, or equivalent experience.
  • Able to work nights and weekends.

Job description

The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, seeks a temporary Associate Video Producer/Editor to assist in creating videos and set up live streams for our website, YouTube and our streaming channel. The Temporary Assoc. Video Producer/Editor will report to the Manager of Digital and Streaming Video, and will work collaboratively with the other video producers, reporters, and our programming team. We’re seeking a highly creative candidate with excellent news judgment.

This is an in-office position.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Quickly assist in producing breaking news video packages with material from press conferences, Congressional floor votes, and related hearings
  • Set up livestreams for the site, YouTube and our OTT platform.
  • Fill in as OBS operator for OTT livestreaming
  • Keep up with a fast-moving news cycle with the ability to pivot as a story change
  • Follow the news to the extent you can confidently and proactively conceptualize video series ideas or standalone packages on relevant news and policy headlines
  • Collaborate with reporters and editors to assist in producing videos centering on their news stories and investigations
  • Create compelling YouTube thumbnails and headlines
Skills & Qualifications:

Salary Range: $56,000.00 - $58,000.00 based upon experience.
