Job summary

Adopt-A-Family Of The Palm Beaches is seeking a Temporary After School Counselor to cover a staff leave. You will supervise and engage Kindergarten and 1st Grade students in our after-school program, creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that supports academic, social, and emotional development.

The assignment lasts up to four months, with a schedule Monday–Friday 1:00 PM–6:00 PM, and occasional 8-hour shifts on holidays and teacher workdays to support program operations and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 40 Hour Childcare Training, CDA, or School Age Certification is desired.
• Successful completion of a Level 2 background check and fingerprinting prior to hire.
• Holds active CPR and First Aid certification (Adult, Child, and Infant).
• Minimum one year of experience in after-school/childcare settings; two+ years preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous supervision and ensure safety of children at all times.
• Create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans as needed.
• Plan and facilitate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
• Assist students with homework and academic support.
• Foster social-emotional growth and positive relationships.
• Support development of problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming program environment.
