Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Business Data & Governance Analyst serves as a bridge between Procurement stakeholders and technical data teams across Novelis regions and corporate functions. This role helps create a trusted procurement data foundation by ensuring data is clearly defined, governed, transformed, maintained, validated and fit for use across ERP systems, master data platforms, data lakes, business intelligence platforms and reporting environments.

The role combines procurement process knowledge, data stewardship, governance, master data expertise and business-to-technology translation. You will partner with business and technical teams to improve data quality, enable scalable data products and strengthen decision-making and process excellence.

Responsibilities
Business Partnership & Requirements Translation
  • Partner with Global Non-Metal category teams, regional procurement teams, Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Digital, Data Engineering, Master Data Management and Governance teams.
  • Build a strong understanding of procurement operations, priorities, pain points and decision-making needs.
  • Translate business processes and governance expectations into clear data definitions, transformation rules, acceptance criteria and technical requirements.
  • Communicate technical data concepts, constraints and solution options in clear business language and coordinate business validation and user acceptance testing.
Data Governance, Stewardship & Master Data
  • Apply data governance standards and controls throughout the procurement data lifecycle, including ownership, definitions, classifications, lineage, quality standards and access.
  • Maintain critical datasets, attributes, mappings, hierarchies, reference data, metadata, business rules and transformation logic.
  • Use master data tools such as Informatica to review, validate, enrich, maintain and monitor procurement-related master data.
  • Partner with data owners, stewards, engineers and governance teams to establish clear accountability for critical data elements and resolve duplicate, incomplete, inconsistent or incorrectly classified data.
Data Quality, Transformation & Enterprise Platforms
  • Review procurement data from multiple sources to understand definitions, lineage, completeness, structure and intended business use.
  • Define and validate transformation logic and assess the upstream and downstream impacts of data changes across ERP systems, integrations, master data tools, data lakes and reporting platforms.
  • Partner with data engineers to validate source-to-target mappings, pipelines, data models, transformation logic and outputs.
  • Define and monitor data quality measures for completeness, accuracy, consistency, validity, timeliness and uniqueness.
  • Lead root cause analysis and coordinate cleansing, correction, validation, enrichment and remediation activities, including preventive controls that sustain data quality.
  • Support testing, validation, implementation and stabilization of ERP, procurement platform, integration and reporting enhancements.
Analytics Enablement & Continuous Improvement
  • Govern the definitions, data elements, hierarchies, mappings, measures, calculations, filters and quality expectations used in Procurement reporting and analytics.
  • Validate the integrity of source data and transformation logic before certified data products are released or changed.
  • Identify process inefficiencies, control gaps, quality risks and opportunities for standardization or automation.
  • Contribute to global procurement transformation, digital enablement, process mapping, performance measurement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop repeatable practices, documentation and controls that improve the reliability and scalability of procurement data processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Management, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Five to eight years of relevant experience in business data analysis, data stewardship, master data management, data governance, procurement analytics, business intelligence, ERP support or process excellence.
  • Experience working across business and technical teams in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying data quality issues, translating requirements, validating technical solutions and supporting remediation.
  • Strong functional understanding of ERP systems and the relationships among business processes, master data, transactions, integrations and reporting.
  • Understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, data pipelines, source-to-target mappings, data models and transformation logic.
  • Knowledge of data governance, stewardship, metadata, lineage, classifications, business glossaries, quality rules and controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder influence and communication skills, with close attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
