Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks a TEMPEST Security Specialist to assist the CTTA in affirming TEMPEST compliance for government and contractor facilities handling SCI.

The TEMPEST engineer will review testing, PDS, and installation packages, produce site survey reports, and log closures in the customer database while generating ad hoc TEMPEST reports for anomalies.

Qualifications

• TEMPEST fundamentals and installation/design coursework completed.
• TS/SCI w/Polygraph clearance required.
• BA/BS or 10+ years related experience.

Job description

The TEMPEST Security Specialist assists the Certified TEMPEST Technical Authority (CTTA) in the formal affirmation that government facilities and customer sponsored contractor facilities where SCI is electronically processed meet the security requirements of applicable TEMPEST policies efficiently and cost effectively.

The TEMPEST engineer will product TSS deliverables. Shall review TEMPEST testing, TEMPEST worksheets, Red and Black Installation/Separation and Protective Distribution System (PDS) packages to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Shall create Site Survey Reports and SOCOMM message for customer approval and release. Record the documents and task closure in customer database.

The TEMPEST engineer will conduct ad hoc testing using equipment from the Government's TEMPEST inventory. Product an Ad Hoc TEMPEST report, with descriptions of any anomalies, concerns, or discoveries.

A TEMPEST Engineer must demonstrate knowledge of the following:

1. a. a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices in the use of TEMPEST and TSCM analysis techniques.
2. b. Interpreting complex facility architectural and infrastructure plans/drawings.
3. c. Probability, statistics, information theory and the ability to implement processes using computer programs.
4. d. Information and communication theory.
5. e. signal propagation and antenna theory.
6. f. Structural parameters and grounding techniques, test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
7. g. Computing principles and internal functionality.
8. h. Computer database management and working knowledge of programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Lab view, Visio, AutoCAD Lite, Adobe Acrobat. Knowledge of physical security countermeasures.
9. i. PDS construction materials and methods.
10. j. Physical intrusion detection system technology.
11. k. Interpreting complex signal component wiring diagrams.
12. May serve as team or task lead. (Not a people manager)

• Education: BA/BS or 10+ years of experience
• Required Experience: 5+ years of related experience
• Required Technical Skills: Completion of TEMPEST Fundamentals Course and TEMPEST for System Installation and Design Course.
• Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI w/Polygraph
• Preferred Skills: Graduation from the TSCM Fundamentals course at the Interagency Training Center is highly desirable
• Location: Customer Site
