Job summary

Ashland High School seeks an Assistant Coach for Swimming (Temporary) to guide student athletes toward excellence under the head coach. You will support practice planning, skill development, and sportsmanship within ASD policies.

The role requires coaching experience, OSAA certification, and current first aid/CPR. Hours range 2–8 per day during the season, on-site at Ashland High School.

Qualifications

• Certification: OSAA Coaches Education Program.
• Previous experience coaching in the sport and solid leadership skills strongly desired.
• Valid first aid/CPR card is required.

Responsibilities

• Holds or assists organized practice as the program requires.
• Teaches all of the skills necessary to participate in the sport.
• Teaches the strategies necessary to participate in the sport.
• Teaches the drills and exercises needed for developing strength, stamina, and speed in the sport.
• Assists in the development of seasonal goals and objectives and daily practice plans.
• Assists in the development of lines of communications with parents, officials, and booster clubs to promote the sport.
• Supervises locker room before and after practice, as required.
• Supervises bus trips, as required.
• Complies with all athletic association regulations, league rules, and District policies.
• Attends coaching clinics, as requested by building principal, athletic coordinator, or head coach.
• Follows specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and District.
• Actively encourages student participation.
• Promotes the ethical values of athletics.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with the head coach, administration, other staff, and the community that enhances the sport.
• Assists with the proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies from the first day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed.
• Promotes concept of sportsmanship.
• Develops positive health and safety standards for all athletes in the program.
• Attends work regularly and is punctual.
• Follows and maintains Knowledge of all applicable District policies and procedures.
• Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date.
• While working collaboratively with others, implements decisions within ASD established policies and procedures.
