Position Summary

Under the supervision of a teacher or administrator, Temporary Support Assistants (TSA) assist students with their physical, emotional, behavioral, and instructional needs across preschool, elementary, and secondary levels. Responsibilities include supervising students, supporting self-care, collecting data, and implementing instructional tasks as outlined by professional staff. Employees must be capable of performing duties independently, which may vary based on location and staffing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervise students during the school day, including assistance with bus entry/exit, lifting, pushing students in equipment, and monitoring student movement.
2. Assist students with social behavior, personal hygiene, and self-help skills, including toileting, feeding, and grooming.
3. Support instructional activities, reinforce subjects, and implement plans as directed by teachers or job coaches.
4. Observe and manage student behavior in various settings, following approved procedures.
5. Gather and report data on student performance and behavior.
6. Support students with social, emotional, and behavioral concerns, including implementing behavior strategies.
7. Follow policies and procedures during activities and community-based settings.
8. Participate in professional development and training sessions.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency; additional coursework in child development or special education preferred.

Experience & Skills: Patience, ability to work with diverse and students with disabilities, punctuality, proficiency with technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, web conferencing), and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform extensive walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and assisting students with disabilities physically.
