Job summary

Abilities First, Inc. seeks a dedicated Temporary Physical Therapist for the Myers Corners Education Center in Wappingers Falls, NY. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to support school-age children across all levels of ability in an educational setting.

Position is 35 hours per week, 48 weeks per year (includes a 6-week summer program). Requires NY State PT license, CPR/SFA/Med certification (or ability to obtain). Salary is hourly with two rate bands depending on credentials.

Qualifications

• Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school.
• Licensed with NYS Department of Education.
• Clean driver's license that is deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier.
• CPR, SFA, and Med Certification are a plus; ability to obtain these certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates students on assigned caseload and sets long/short term goals.
• Provides direct treatment to students on caseload.
• Schedules caseload in coordination with classroom staff and other services.
• Submits written documentation per School/Preschool policies and deadlines.
• Reassesses progress and adjusts goals as needed.
• Assesses equipment needs and collaborates with staff for adaptations.
• Communicates regularly with parents and staff regarding progress.
• Trains and supervises affiliating student therapists as assigned.
• Attends CSE annual reviews to provide input on therapy needs.
• Maintains treatment sites and assists in department training.
