Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM-GallupBranch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque,NM.

The University of New Mexico’s Gallup Branch, LiberalArts & Education Division, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teachface-to-face and/or online lower division courses (1000/2000 Level) duringthe Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026 semesters in the following potential areas:

Possible Courses:

  • EDUC 1120 Introduction to Education
  • EDUC 2243 Children’s Literature
  • EDUC 2315 Educating Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Students
  • EDUC 2330 The Effective Classroom
  • EDUC 2375 Technology Integration in the Classroom
  • EDUC 2420 Teaching Reading in the Elementary Classroom

UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque.The University of New Mexico established branch colleges to provide thehighest quality of education for students pursuing post-secondary educationat different locations throughout the state. Branch colleges respondspecifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their respectivecommunities by offering community education programs, career and technicaleducation including certificate and associate degree programs, and transferprograms that prepare students for upper division entry into colleges anduniversities.

The Liberal Art & Education Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seeking aqualified temporary part-time faculty member to teach lower division classesin various courses or topics as specified above. UNM Gallup instructors areresponsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but notlimited to meeting face-to-face with the class during assigned times that mayinclude evenings or weekends, content delivery, assignment development,grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learningas outlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven bygraduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated eachsemester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to thedivision chair.

Wages
Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour course loads. Salary range: $1,135.26 - $1,228.24 per credit hour.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or a related field
  • Three years teaching experience at the early childhood or elementary education level

PreferredQualifications:

  • PhD in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or a related field
  • At least three years college-level teaching experience
  • Ademonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and variedcultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to servelocal and global communities.
