TEMPORARY PAINTER/ CARPENTER
Reports TO: Structural Systems Supervisor
STATUS/HOURS: TEMP/ Full-time, 40 hours per week, throughmid- December or early January. Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30p.m. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academyneeds.
FLSA: Non-Exempt (hourly)
CLASSIFICATION: Staff
WAGE: $33.00- $34.50 Based on relevant experience
Position Purpose
This position efficiently maintains and preserves the Academy’sinterior and exterior surfaces of buildings, structures, fixtures,and equipment to ensure a clean, safe and appealing appearance forthose visiting, residing in, and working on campus.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform work in a safe and professional manner
- Repair surfaces before painting, filling holes and cracks withputty or patching plaster
- Prepare surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, brushing,sanding, or sealing
- Repairing and patching drywall, plaster, and stucco asneeded.
- Removing and installing architectural hardware, includinghinges, latches as needed
- Roll, brush, or spray paint onto exterior surfaces, walls,ceilings, floors, equipment, trim, and molding in or on buildingsand structures.
- Apply fine finish spray painting in spray booth using HVLP(high volume low pressure) paint guns and paint machines andmaintain equipment.
- Tint paints using compact color dispenser and performmaintenance on dispenser.
- Protect work areas against dripping, splashing, andoverspray
- Disassemble, refinish, and move furniture as needed
- Erect ladders and scaffolding and be able to work on thesame
- Maintain all painting tools and other equipment
- Glaze windows as needed
- Use high pressure washer to clean surfaces as needed.
- Removing snow and ice from roofs gutters, and roof leaders
- Basic carpentry skills
- Perform lead testing for painting projects to assure compliancewith the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead Renovation Repairand Painting (RRP) rule.
- Identify restoration projects on campus, develop work scope,plan and execute. Preparing records of material and timeexpended
- Attend the Environmental Protection Agency’s lead safe training- Renovation Repair and Painting (RRP) rule to become a CertifiedRenovator.
- Perform lead testing on painting projects and when lead ispresent follow lead safe work practices in compliance with RRPrule.
- When requested by Safety and Environmental Compliance Managerperform RRP on areas identified as lead in Lead Inspection Reportand document results.
- Perform research and make recommendations to manager regardingthe purchase of new paint products for better performance and/orproducts containing low VOC (volatile organic compounds) to helpreduce carbon footprint.
- Perform research and make recommendations to manager regardingthe purchase of new tools and equipment to improve quality and/orefficiency, and when applicable arrange for vendors to provide ademonstration of new equipment prior to purchase.
- Utilize mobile devices and a computerized maintenancemanagement system (CMMS) to receive, document, and complete workorder requests.
- Observing and reporting, through the CMMS, defects,deterioration and wear and tear on the facilities
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience
- Minimum of three years painting experience.
- Familiarity working on scaffolding, staging, bucket trucks andladders preferred.
- Proper knowledge of working with lead based paint.
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of thosethat must be met by an employee to successfully perform theessential functions of this job.
- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work andmust be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time, go upand down flights of steps, and well as stoop, kneel, crouch andlift requires standing, stretching, bending, walking, climbingstairs, and lifting and transporting a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in confined areas and areas subject toextreme heat and cold temperatures including inclementweather.

- Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewedevery 5 years).
- Clean Driving record (reviewed annually).
