Job summary

Portland Public Schools seeks a reliable Food Services Technician and Driver to temporarily support the Food Service Department at the Central Kitchen. The role involves operating a 22-foot refrigerated box truck, loading and unloading deliveries, and maintaining kitchen areas.

Requirements include a valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a certification in motorized materials-handling equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience driving trucks and an excellent driving record.
• Certification (or ability to obtain certification) in motorized materials-handling equipment.
• High school or trade school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operate a medium-weight truck to pick up and deliver food and supplies between schools.
• Load/unload trucks and perform receiving duties for deliveries from vendors.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and service; troubleshoot repairs as needed.
• Oversee cleaning of Central Kitchen areas and related groundskeeping tasks.
• Ensure health laws are followed in cleaning and sanitation of kitchen areas.
• Maintain inventories and supply levels for the kitchen.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
