Job summary

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is seeking a Fish Health Laboratory Technician for a temporary nine-month assignment. The role involves complex microbiology work, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and PCR testing on-site in Colorado. Expect some travel and a 40-hour workweek, with evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Required are a biology bachelor’s degree and strong microbiology skills. Candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team and lift 50–100 pounds as

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in biology (or related field).
• Significant experience in a diagnostic microbiological lab environment preferred.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, receiving, labeling, and analyzing samples related to fish health inspections.
• Performing microscopic, serological, and biochemical assays to identify pathogens.
• Maintaining laboratory records and daily equipment logs.
• Preparing reagents and media for routine laboratory use.
• Maintaining laboratory areas and equipment in a clean, orderly fashion.
• Recording data accurately and in specified format.
• Providing QA program support for the AAHL and adhering to SOPs.
