Job summary

Allegheny County Airport Authority is seeking a Temp Driver to operate trucks, snowplows, and airport equipment to keep PIT/AGC airports operational. You will work assigned shifts and must be available for overtime during the snow season.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, two years of driving experience in maintenance, and a valid PA Class A or B CDL. PPE footwear is required, with knowledge of FAA ground control and radio procedures.

Responsibilities

• Check oil, hydraulic fluid, and water levels; perform basic lubrication and pre/post trip inspections.
• Be prepared to work on all shifts and overtime during winter/snow season; travel on AO A with tower communications.

Working assigned shifts, the Driver is required to be available for overtime during the snow season to operate snow removal equipment. Here is how the Temp Driver role will help:

Develop or participate in the job safety analysis procedures. Operate vehicles and equipment such as single axle tandem and tri axle dump trucks, 28-foot snow removal equipment, 20 passenger bus, 26 foot brush hog grass cutter, street sweepers, runway painting equipment, sewer cleaning equipment, deicer trucks with 50 foot & 75 foot booms, fuel truck and assorted trailers including 40 foot low boy trailer; Check oil, hydraulic fluid, and water levels. Apply grease to vehicle and equipment lubrication points. Haul equipment to job sites. Effectively communicates on radio. Travel on the A.O.A. using tower communications radio. Work safely and abide by all ACAA safety guidelines. Maintain good working relations with management and co-workers, representing the ACAA in a professional manner at all times. Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.

Qualifications Requirements to apply for role of Temp Driver are:

The qualified candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of F.A.A. ground control and radio procedures. Knowledge of occupational hazards and techniques of safety precautions and injury prevention programs. Ability to work under adverse climatic conditions for extended hours. Ability to work independently or as a team member for projects. Ability to learn airfield and safe driving procedures for independent movement on the airfield. Employee may be assigned to additional shifts, which encompass a twenty-four hour day, seven day per week operation, including holidays. Subject to remain on duty beyond assigned working hours to provide assistance during emergency situations, peak periods or extenuating circumstances.

Medical Examination

Employment is contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) physical examination and respirator medical clearance performed by the Authority’s examining physician. Hearing ability must meet the standards / levels, as required by the Department of Transportation guidelines.

Drug Testing

Employment is contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) drug screening. Continued employment may be subject to drug and alcohol testing conducted without advance notice and without individualized suspicion.

Pre-employment Background Investigation

Ability to successfully pass a thorough investigation consisting of a criminal history check (including but not limited to the requirements of TSR/CFR 1542.209 and 1542.3), verification of prior employment and performance, reference and credentials checks, and in some cases credit history.
