Job summary

Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches is seeking a Temporary After School Counselor to supervise Kindergarten and 1st Grade students in our after-school program, ensuring a safe, nurturing, structured environment that supports academic, social, and emotional development. The role runs Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM for up to four months, with occasional 8-hour shifts on school holidays and breaks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 40 Hour Childcare Training, CDA, or School Age Certification desired.
• Successful completion of a Level 2 background check and fingerprinting.
• Holds CPR and First Aid certification (Adult, Child, and Infant).

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
• Implement and create age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
• Assist students with homework and academic support as needed.
• Foster positive relationships and encourage social-emotional growth.
• Support children in developing problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Maintain appropriate behavior management practices and classroom expectations.
