Job description

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a strong TEM Technician who has a passion to learn TEM in our group. In this role, the individual will be responsible for:

  1. Obtaining Bright Field, High resolution, diffraction patterns, dark field TEM and HAADF STEM images of different samples.
  2. Organizing data, preparing and delivering summary reports to BU engineers.
  3. Working with customers and team members to optimize experiments and explain results.
  4. Preparing wafers for experimentation to include cleaning, loading wafers, preparing reactor for experimentation, and cleaning reactors.
  5. Operating reactor to perform thin film process, recommending performance of process system and troubleshooting.
  6. Preparing cross section samples for scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis and helping/guiding requestor to optimize sample prep procedure and conditions, identifying cutting location based on pattern instructions.
  7. Recording process conditions and experimental observations, evaluating wafers and thin films, including modification of the process recipes.
  8. Operating scanning electron microscope (SEM) for cross section and top view or critical dimension (CD) or energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis/imaging depending on job assignment, identifying all patterns of interest, understanding image quality requirement and sample/beam interaction to determine optimized condition.
  9. Preparing graphs and tables summarizing results.
  10. Understanding basic scanning electron microscope (SEM) principles.
  11. Being responsible for all technology products.
  12. Performing scanning electron microscope (SEM) system software alignment functions, routine maintenance procedures, flash, plasma clean, etc.
  13. Ordering equipment and supplies, and coordinating with vendors and purchasing.
  14. Interfacing with requestors, understanding their detail requirements, and communicating on results; helping lab on monitoring wafer in process (WIP) and maintaining throughput.
  15. Coordinating with engineering on wafer evaluations and setting up equipment for experiments.
  16. Performing routine shut down procedures, identifying problems, putting tools down, and calling for service.
  17. Using quantitative wafer evaluation and process instrumentation knowledge to draw conclusions from data and assisting in training lower-level technicians.
  18. Developing and publishing best known method (BKM) procedures including sample prep, scanning electron microscope (SEM) conditions, and special sample handling.

Qualifications:

  • Experience on Focused Ion Beam (FIB) for TEM sample preparation.
  • 2+ years’ experience on FIB/SEM/TEM tool operation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a positive way with peers and customers at all levels.
  • Flexible work hour/day.

U.S. Salary Range: $29.00 - $39.60

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
