Guaranty Bank & Trust in Commerce, TX is hiring a Full-Time Teller/New Accounts Representative. The role combines teller responsibilities with opening new accounts to create a seamless customer experience.

You will train in teller duties first, then learning new account onboarding, with emphasis on customer service, local community engagement, and cross-selling appropriate products and services. The position requires in-person work at our Commerce location.

Responsibilities

• Teller duties: handle cash transactions, verify cash and endorsements, identify counterfeit currency and fraudulent checks.
• Balance ATMs and cash on hand, secure cash and coins as per policy.
• Consolidate and balance daily transactions.
• Process deposits, loan payments, cash checks, and issue money orders and cashier's checks.
• New Accounts duties: open consumer and business accounts, onboard customers, resolve service issues, and meet with local businesses to drive visibility.
• Connect customers to loan, mortgage, treasury management, or investment specialists for needs.
• Follow up with new customers by phone to ensure satisfaction and address needs.
• Combined duties: engage customers in lobby and by phone to educate on self-service options and protect privacy.
• Comply with regulatory rules and complete required training.

We are currently searching for the right person to join our team as a Full-Time Teller/New Accounts Representative. This position combines both traditional Teller and New Account duties for a more wholistic experience for our customers.

Duties And Responsibilities

This position will train in Teller duties first and then train in opening new accounts. Below are the duties of each position.

Teller

• Handle cash transactions and make appropriate decisions regarding negotiable instrument transactions, including verifying cash and endorsements, receiving proper identification and ensuring validity, and identifying counterfeit currency and fraudulent checks.
• Balance ATMs, all cash on hand, drawer activities, and totals on a daily basis. Ensure all cash and coin is secured in accordance with bank policy when not in use.
• Consolidate and balance daily transactions.
• Performing transactions such as accepting deposits, process loan payments, cashing checks, and issuing money orders and cashier’s checks

New Accounts

• Working with customers and prospects to build loyalty and deepen relationships by uncovering financial needs and recommending the best products, services, and solutions to meet those needs
• Opening new accounts, including consumer and business accounts
• Taking ownership of the customer experience including on-boarding and resolving service issues
• Conducting some outbound sales activities such as meeting with local businesses and attending community events to establish visibility in the community and drive business to the bank
• Connecting customers to the appropriate loan, mortgage, treasury management, or investment specialists that can help them with specialized financial needs
• Contacting new customers by phone to follow up to ensure customer satisfaction, resolve issues, and address any additional financial needs based on the customer’s financial priorities.

Combined

• Engaging customers in the lobby and the phone to assist, educate, and train them on how to conduct transactions through self-service technologies
• Complying with privacy policies and procedures to maintain customer confidentiality and information protection
• Complying with all federal, state and local regulatory rules and regulations governing financial institutions, as well as all company policies and procedures
• Completing and passing all required regulatory compliance training as assigned.
• Perform any additional duties and tasks assigned by management.

Education, Experience, & Licenses

• High school degree or higher- required
• Minimum 1 year of Teller or New Accounts experience- preferred
• Minimum 1 year of cash-handling and customer service experience- required

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, occassionally 9am-6pm on Fridays, occassionally Saturdays from 8:45am-12pm.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position. We offer an extensive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. PTO accruals begin at .0745 per hour worked for our part time employees up to a maximum accrual of 240 hours per year for certain Full-Time employees. PTO accruals are dependent on position, status (Full time or Part time), and years of experience in accordance with our PTO policy. Most Full-Time employees are also offered 6 paid holidays and Part Time employees are offered pro-rated paid holidays.
