Job summary

BrightBridge Credit Union is seeking a Teller II in Danvers, MA. This full-time position handles a wide range of member transactions, balances cash drawers, and provides exceptional service to our members.

You will build relationships, uncover member needs, and guide them to suitable credit union products while supporting branch operations and training new tellers. Some Saturdays and potential coverage at other locations are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year teller experience preferred with a satisfactory balancing record.
• Basic math, data entry, and strong written/verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility of work hours and reliable attendance required.
• Bilingual preferred; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Processes a wide variety of transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and more.
• Identifies member needs and refers products/services to meet goals.
• Balances cash drawer and completes daily settlement per policies.
• Assists in training new tellers and participates in branch operations.
• Opens/closes the branch and handles night depository logistics as needed.
• Maintains professional member interactions and adheres to BSA procedures.
• Occasional Saturday work and coverage at other locations if required.

What You'll Be Doing (Your Responsibilities)

• Processes a wide variety of transactions for members including, but not limited to: deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, payroll adjustments, bank checks, gift cards, VISA cash advances, IRA deposits/withdrawals in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures.
• Consistently develops potential new business by uncovering clues and needs during interactions with members, presenting the benefits of those products/services and referring the member to the appropriate CU partner for fulfillment. Provides the highest quality member service by listening, communication, and referring members to appropriate personnel as necessary to meet quarterly goals.
• Uses sound judgement and interpersonal skills to effectively assist members.
• Maintains and balances a backup cash vault, if assigned by Branch Manager.
• Assists in training new Tellers.
• Participates in opening and closing the branch.
• Interacts with members and staff on a daily basis in prompt, effective and professional manner.
• Balances cash drawer and makes settlement of the day's activities in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures.
• Ensures that cash limits are consistently followed as per established Credit Union procedures, cash is kept secure at all times and locked in the vault each night.
• Assists members with accessing their safe deposit boxes.
• Answers telephones, provides information and/or directs caller to appropriate department/employee.
• Assists in opening the night depository and logs deposits as needed.
• Participates in balancing ATM, under dual control, as necessary.
• Adheres to all aspects of the Credit Union Bank Secrecy Act policy and procedures.
• Ability to work some Saturdays during the month and occasionally provides temporary coverage in alternate locations for an unplanned absence situation.
• Works towards achieving sale/service goals by attending department meetings, on-on-one meetings, and product knowledge and selling skills training on an ongoing basis.
• Performs additional duties as requested.

What We’re Looking For (Your Qualifications)

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of previous teller experience preferred with a satisfactory balancing record.
• Basic math skills; familiarity with keyboard/personal computer; customer/member service skills; effective written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills and data entry skills required.
• Strong desire to work with the general public.
• Flexibility of work hours and proven reliability/dependability required.
• Must have a valid drivers license for coverage of retail branches.
• Bilingual preferred.

Physical Demands, Equipment Used, and Work Environment

• Prolonged standing or sitting. Walking to vaults, drive-up windows, or office equipment.
• Counting cash, handling physical documents, and typing.
• Close visual acuity to view screens and verify signatures.
• Lifting coin bags or boxes of printed materials up to 25 lbs
• Regular attendance and office mobility required. Attendance at appropriate conferences, meetings, and other travel as needed are required.
