Service Representative (Teller)

A Brief Overview

The Service Representative handles daily banking transactions, identifies customer needs for banking products and services, provides service following satisfaction standards, and ensures compliance with regulatory and operational procedures, including scorecard adherence.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  1. Process monetary transactions such as check cashing, money orders, deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, and payments for loans, cars, and mortgages.
  2. Perform debit/credit entries via bank teller system or manually during contingencies.
  3. Apply security measures, report irregularities, and suspicious transactions as per BSA and other requirements.
  4. Maintain cash balances and refer transactions requiring authorization.
  5. Contribute to branch growth by applying sales culture and achieving goals, following administrative procedures, and adhering to the scorecard for banking products.
  6. Comply with relevant laws and regulations, including BSA, Truth in Lending, Truth in Savings, US Patriot Act, and Community Reinvestment Act.
  7. Identify customer needs and refer appropriate products and services.
  8. Perform end-of-day balancing and closing, and send transactions to the Proof and Transit unit as scheduled.
  9. Handle administrative duties such as preparing daily transaction documents, cash counting, and filing.
  10. Complete FINCEN 104, CTR forms for cash and other transactions as per BSA procedures.
  11. Participate in internal and external sales activities and support the sales team.
  12. Assist with customer service calls and support branch operations as needed.
  13. Support administrative tasks for the Branch Sales Assistant Manager and participate in special projects and reviews.

Requirements:

  • Six months to one year of experience in sales or customer service.
  • At least 24 college credits toward an associate or bachelor’s degree, or relevant coursework in banking.
  • Practical experience, training, and academic background demonstrating required skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Experience with cash registers preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, bilingual preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Internet, and banking tools.
  • Availability for holidays, weekends, flexible schedules, and transfers within the area.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask and perform accurately under pressure.
