Job description

Position Summary:

The Teller serves as the primary point of contact for customers and non-customers, providing outstanding customer service throughout each interaction. They perform a variety of customer transactions daily, offer information, resolve issues, and seek opportunities to strengthen customer relationships through suggesting other bank products and services.

Note:

To promote employee engagement and retention within the Customer Service department, and to support branch growth while maintaining high service levels, it is essential to have well-trained employees at all levels. The 6-month position guideline is in place to ensure employees' success. Employees wishing to apply for another position must be in their current role/branch for at least 6 months. Exceptions can be discussed with a Customer Service Officer.

Essential Functions:
  1. Accept and accurately process all financial transactions.
  2. Maintain responsibility for cash drawer and follow proper balancing procedures.
  3. Work on semi-routine assignments where recognizing deviations from accepted practices is required.
  4. Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and addressing concerns.
  5. Cross-sell other bank services and refer customers to relevant departments to meet management goals.
  6. Maintain knowledge of products, fees, policies, and stay current on offerings to suggest suitable products.
  7. Ensure compliance with all bank regulations related to assigned responsibilities.
  8. Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations applicable to the role. Complete necessary compliance training and follow internal controls.
  9. Report compliance issues, violations of law, or regulations as per bank policies.
  10. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  11. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Previous sales and customer service experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills promoting Union Bank's customer service philosophy.
  • Basic math and proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Working Environment:

Indoor work environment, not exposed to outdoor elements or hazards.

Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods.

Occasional sedentary work involving lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
