Cherokee Strip Credit Union in Ponca City, OK, is seeking a Teller to perform basic financial transactions for members and provide prompt, friendly service. You will process deposits, withdrawals, transfers and checks with accuracy and efficiency while adhering to security and policy requirements.

Under the direction of the Retail Manager, the Teller conducts basic financial transactions for members of the Credit Union. The Teller handles routine member transactions, inquiries and resolves simple problems while maintaining excellent relationships with members, co-workers and management. The Teller is expected to provide prompt and friendly service, maintain a high degree of proficiency and efficiency in completing transactions, and be able to refer various products and services to members.
50% - Responsible for processing basic teller transactions including deposits, withdrawals,
loan payments, negotiable instruments, transfers, and check cashing. Must be
proficient in various member servicing requests including stop payments,
address/phone number/email updates, check orders, online banking inquiries,
ACH/A2A/AFT Transfers and incoming and outgoing Wire Transfers. Must be able
conduct such transactions with minimal assistance. Must be proficient in balancing with
minimal errors and unreconciled cash differences. Responsible for handling member
inquiries, whether in-person, via the telephone or email in a timely manner.
25% - Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all Credit Union products and
services. Responsible for identifying opportunities and making suggestions/referrals for
additional products/services while conducting member transactions and inquiries.
10% - Must demonstrate understanding of various consumer regulations governing member
accounts and transactions, including but not limited to the Credit Union's Privacy Policy,
Funds Availability Policy, OFAC, the Patriot Act and the Bank Secrecy Act. Must be able
to properly complete a Currency Transaction Report with minimal or no errors. Must be
able to identify behaviors or activities that are suspicious in nature and take
appropriate action to prevent loss to the Credit Union and/or the Member. Must be able
to recognize those transactions that may require a Hold, must be able to place the
Hold and provide appropriate notice to the Member.
10% - Responsible for completing necessary training to advance to Member Advisor Position
within six to twelve months.
5% - Other duties or projects as assigned by the Retail Manager.
One to Three years cash handling experience required. Previous experience in sales or as a a Teller in a Bank or Credit Union preferred but not required.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to members, co-workers and management.
Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in order to carry on a conversation with members. Must demonstrate analytical ability in order to resolve cash differences and resolve simple problems, both mathematically and conceptually. Must be able to perform basic math calculations. Must demonstrate organizational skills in order to successfully complete multiple tasks at any given point and time. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not required. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer, along with spreadsheet and word processing applications. Must be proficient in the use of office equipment, such as telephone, scanner, fax machine and calculator. Must demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills. Must be able to work independently and as a member of a dynamic team. Must demonstrate the ability to be punctual and maintain regular attendance.
