Job description

The Teller is responsible for the following duties:

  • Welcomes and assists customers at the Teller line.
  • Accurately processes a variety of transactions including deposits and withdrawals.
  • Promptly investigates and resolves Teller errors.
  • Provides exceptional customer service (in-person, on the phone, or virtually) in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
  • Builds customer relationships, determines their needs, and recommends appropriate products and services.
  • Works as part of a team to address customer needs and accomplish branch goals.

In addition, the following are primary responsibilities associated with this role:

  • Follow all established bank policies and procedures.
  • Keep cash drawer within established limits by selling and buying cash as needed.
  • Process deposits and withdrawals, cash checks, issue Cashier's Checks, accept a variety of payments, process coin orders accurately, perform proof duties, balance cash vaults, scan and file appropriate documents.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy by balancing cash drawer daily. Keep cash overages/shortages within the acceptable standards.
  • Investigate and resolve Teller errors. Communicate to those affected.
  • Provide quality customer service in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
  • Comply with regulations by completing Currency Transaction reports (CTRs).
  • Build customer relationships, making product and service referrals when appropriate.
  • Handle customer account inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Work as part of a team to address customer needs and accomplish branch goals.

Skillset & Experience:

  • Effective communication when working with customers and/or employees.
  • Be involved in developing solutions to meet the needs of the customer and/or employees.
  • Flexibility to meet changing workload; highly self-motivated.
  • Be a team player and be respectful to all staff, customers, and prospects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous cash handling experience preferred.
  • 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
