Job summary

TruStar Federal Credit Union in Minnesota is seeking a detail-oriented Teller to assist members with financial transactions and information on available services. You will handle deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments, post transactions, balance drawers, and help with vault and ATM duties.

The role requires 1–3 years’ related experience and a high school diploma or GED. You will greet members, cross-sell services, and perform various duties to support other departments in a busy credit union

Job description

To assist members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments. To fill orders for currency and coins; to count and record cash deposits in the Credit Union's vault, ATM, and night depository.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Welcome members and provide routine information concerning services and directs members to appropriate department for specific information and service.
  • Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments; sells money orders to members; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed.
  • Posts transactions to member accounts and maintains member records.
  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Cross-sells Credit Union services.
  • Provides help with vault, ATM, and night depository duties while providing dual control.
  • Helps with a variety of miscellaneous tasks to assist other departments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
  1. Resolve member issues within 24 hours and/or ensure that all parties are informed daily on the process.
  2. Accurately post transactions, having 90 percent accuracy in a 30-day period.
  3. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner.
  4. Proactively seek opportunities to identify appropriate products and services for the betterment of the member.
Knowledge and Skills:

Experience

One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education

A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills

Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

Other Skills

Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch. Must be good with detail to deal with numbers and names.

Physical Requirements
  • FINGER DEXTERITY: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • REPETITIVE MOTION: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • FINE VISUAL ABILITIES: Fine visual acuity with the ability to inspect closely or to assemble small parts.
  • PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
