Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Health Administration in New York/Northport seeks a Purchasing Agent to acquire supplies, services, and construction by purchase, rental, or lease within federal micro-purchase and small-purchase procedures.

You will manage procurement documents, liaise with vendors, and ensure purchases comply with FAR/VAAR, supporting a VA Medical Center and its catchment area; telework eligibility will be discussed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of procurement policies and procedures for delivery orders and small purchases.
• Familiarity with FAR, VAAR and federal procurement laws.
• Experience with government purchase card for micro purchases.

Responsibilities

• Perform purchasing to acquire supplies, services, and construction by purchase, rental, or lease (delivery orders or small purchases).
• Prepare, control, and review procurement documents and reports; verify information.
• Contact vendors to obtain order status and expedite delivery; maintain procurement files.
• Resolve shipment, payment, or discrepancy issues in support of procurement programs.
• Procure a wide variety of items to support VA Health Care System and catchment area.
