Job summary

The County of El Dorado in California seeks Mental Health Worker I/II to provide services in an inpatient facility or day treatment setting under supervision of a health professional. Two years of mental health experience is preferred, with psychology coursework acceptable in lieu of some experience.

You will monitor treatment progress, advocate for clients, and help organize community resources and family support networks to assist reintegration and independence.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a mental health or related setting.
• College level coursework in psychology or a related subject may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Monitor in- and out-patient treatment stages to support movement to the community level.
• Provide client advocacy and leadership for resource integration and community organization efforts to improve services for the mentally handicapped.
• Develop community re-entry plans for mental health patients; organize and develop family support groups for relatives of patients.
• Confer with medical, mental health, and inter-agency staff regarding client needs and placement suitability.
• Monitor client vital signs in an inpatient facility; participate in and lead group activities such as exercise and art.
