Job summary

LV8D Solutions LLC is seeking a Telescope Opto-mechanical Engineer with Space Domain Operations experience in Chantilly, VA. You will provide technical and systems engineering support for development, integration, and sustainment of advanced space-based optical payloads and telescope systems.

You will serve as a key interface between government stakeholders and industry partners to enhance interoperability and reduce program risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline related to optical engineering
• 9+ years in optical systems, telescope development, or space programs
• Experience with optical payloads, telescope systems, and precision mechanical systems
• Knowledge of systems engineering, interface management, and integration activities
• Experience supporting technical reviews, design assessments, and cross-org coordination
• Strong written and verbal communication for government/industry stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Facilitate transfer of knowledge on telescope technologies and optical architectures between government and industry
• Serve as liaison between stakeholders and telescope vendors to align objectives
• Coordinate telescope interface requirements across multiple vendors for interchangeability
• Evaluate interface recommendations and design feedback to reduce NRE costs
• Support development and management of interface definitions, standards, and baselines
• Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and engineering assessments
• Support integration planning for telescope assemblies, optical payloads, and spacecraft interfaces
• Identify opportunities for common architectures and standardized interfaces to improve flexibility
