Job summary

Popular in San Juan-Cu-pey, Puerto Rico, is seeking a Telephone Banking Consultant to deliver exceptional phone service, retain and grow client portfolios, and provide comprehensive information on Popular’s products. The role is on-site at San Juan, Cupey with an eight-week training program starting November 9, 2026.

Training runs Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills, including telephone skills and telephone etiquette.
• PC Skills including knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc).
• Detail oriented with analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish required; English proficiency preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze client service and claims needs, assess available solutions, and make prompt decisions to resolve issues effectively.
• Promote cross-selling of financial products and services to enhance client engagement.
• Address situations within the scope of assigned authority or elevate cases beyond that scope as needed.
• Provide detailed information about Popular’s products and services, including loans, credit cards, credit lines, vendor payments, balance inquiries, and more.

General Description

Provides customers excellent telephone service to assure the retention and growth of clients’ portfolio ensuring that customers receive the best service possible.
