Job Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, continuously monitors and interprets ECG Monitors. Documents on all necessary records the rhythm interpretation and any changes or pertinent information. Communicates with and supports the healthcare team, patients and/or family or significant other(s).

Position Responsibilities
  1. Continuously observes and interprets ECG monitors, identifies and responds appropriately by communicating changes in patient's ECG to the RN, and notifies nursing staff of any technical monitor problems.
  2. Documents calculations and interpretation on required forms.
  3. Demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles, especially when processing and working with the equipment.
  4. Records information required on all forms in the department as needed.
  5. Assists with orientation of healthcare team, performance improvement activities, and maintains departmental competencies.
Qualifications
  • 3-6 months previous experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of dysrhythmia and heart blocks, SPO2 monitoring, and alarm response preferred.
  • Strong organizational and interprofessional skills.
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize scheduling.
  • Ability to operate electronic computer-based equipment.
Education & Certifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Training/Certifications: Must successfully complete Basic Dysrhythmia course and pass the Telemetry Technicians test.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $17.97 - $25.20, based on experience and market data.
