Job summary

Virtua Health seeks a telemetry monitor technician to continuously observe and interpret ECG data under RN guidance. The role supports the healthcare team, patients, and families while documenting rhythm interpretations and any changes.

Required is a High School Diploma or GED with 3-6 months experience; familiarity with dysrhythmia and heart blocks is preferred. You will operate ECG equipment, manage multiple tasks, and uphold safety standards in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of dysrhythmia and heart blocks as well as knowledge of SPO2 monitoring and alarm response preferred.
• Strong organizational and interprofessional skills
• Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
• Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
• Ability to operate electronic computer-based equipment.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, continuously monitors and interprets ECG Monitors.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, continuously monitors and interprets ECG Monitors. Documents on all necessary records the rhythm interpretation and any changes or pertinent information. Communicates with and supports the healthcare team, patients and/or family or significant other(s).

Position Responsibilities

• Continuously observes and interprets ECG monitors. Includes the following:
• Identifies and responds appropriately by communicating changes in patient’s ECG to the RN. Notifies nursing staff of any technical monitor problems.
• Documents calculations and interpretation on required forms.
• Demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles, especially when processing and working with the equipment.
• Records information required on all forms in the department as needed.
• Assists with orientation of healthcare team, performance improvement activities, and maintains departmental competencies.

Required Education

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Must be capable of successfully completing Basic Dysrhythmia course and passing the test for Telemetry Technicians.

Salary

$18.89 - $27.81 Hourly
