Job summary

Under supervision the Monitor Technician (MT) is responsible for cardiac and oximetry monitor surveillance for monitored and telemetry patients. Responsible for reporting rhythm changes and potentially lethal rhythms to a Registered Nurse following outlined workflow.

Interacts directly with physicians regarding the interpretation of cardiac rhythm patterns or changes in patterns. Maintains a safe, hazard free and clean environment which facilitates quality patient focused care.

Qualifications

• Verification of completion of basic EKG cardiac rhythm recognition course required within six months of hire
• 6 months experience working in a healthcare or institutional setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor surveillance for monitored and telemetry patients.
• Report rhythm changes to a Registered Nurse following outlined workflow.
• Interact with physicians regarding interpretation of cardiac rhythm patterns.
• Maintain a safe, hazard free and clean environment for quality patient care.
