Job summary

East Jefferson General Hospital in New Orleans is seeking a Cardiac Monitor Technician to provide continuous telemetry monitoring, recognize rhythm changes, and document findings. You will assist with electrode placement, monitor setup, and maintain accurate monitoring records while coordinating with nursing staff.

Qualifications

• Completion of Cardiac Monitor Training course or 1 year of experience as an EKG Technician or monitoring cardiac rhythms.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and identify changes or abnormalities.
• Notify nursing staff promptly of rhythm changes, signal loss, or lead disconnection.
• Assist with telemetry setup, electrode placement, lead selection, and battery replacement.
• Interpret EKG rhythms and document atrial and ventricular rates.
• Maintain rhythm strips, monitoring logs, equipment, and supplies.
• Activate Rapid Response or Code Blue protocols when indicated.
• Participate in unit initiatives and quality improvement activities.
