Job description

Job Summary

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for continuous monitoring and surveillance of telemetry patients. This role includes recognizing and reporting rhythm changes and potentially life‑threatening arrhythmias to the Registered Nurse according to established protocols.

Location and Shift

Working Location: Elma, Washington

Work Shift: SVC Contract – 12‑hour shifts within a 40‑hour work week.

Responsibilities
  • Continuously monitor patient cardiac rhythms and physiological parameters.
  • Observe, document, and correctly interpret cardiac rhythms.
  • Recognize rhythm abnormalities and promptly report concerns to the RN.
  • Operate monitoring equipment correctly and troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Identify and respond to monitor alarms and emergency conditions.
  • Maintain composure and communicate effectively in high‑stress situations.
  • Utilize office equipment such as fax machines, scanners, copiers, telephones, and computers.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all electronic and paper communications.
  • Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the correct resource.
  • Accurately document the initiation and discontinuation of patient monitoring.
  • Follow proper procedures for managing patient records and ensuring confidentiality.
  • Perform special projects and related duties as assigned.
  • Adapt to changes in the work environment and ask clarifying questions.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Create positive experiences for patients, customers, and coworkers.
  • Participate in ongoing skills training and competency development.
  • Re‑prioritize and shift focus to deliver expected results.
  • Engage in team activities and support new team members.
  • Treat others with courtesy and respect; avoid gossip or triangulation.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Telemetry Technician or ECG interpretation course preferred.
  • One to two years of work experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a patient care setting preferred.
  • Telemetry Technician experience preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in ECG rhythm interpretation and ability to pass the exam.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to pass the yearly competency test.
Compensation

Pay Range (depending on experience): $21.55 – $30.08 per hour.
