Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Telemetry Monitor Technician to assist healthcare providers by observing patients' EKG waveforms and identifying potentially hazardous arrhythmias. You will maintain monitoring equipment and document rhythm strips in accordance with hospital guidelines.

The role requires completing an arrhythmia detection course or having related experience, with preference for formal EKG coursework. Schedule is full-time with weekends and night hours.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of a course in arrhythmia detection or 1 year related experience.
  • Formal coursework in EKG preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and review alarms and arrhythmia analyses.
  • Document rhythm strips per hospital guidelines.
  • Communicate telemetry status changes to care team.
  • Apply and remove telemetry equipment using proper technique.
  • Troubleshoot monitoring equipment and paging systems.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and report malfunctions.
  • Maintain supplies at par levels and communicate with staff.
  • Engage in ongoing tech knowledge through workshops and publications.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job description

Position Summary:

Assists healthcare service providers by monitoring patients' EKG waveforms. Interprets results, recognizes irregular heart functions, such as an arrhythmia and informs provider of potentially hazardous arrhythmias.Maintains monitoring equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Monitors cardiac rhythms, reviews and tests memory alarms, set alarm parameters, and performs arrhythmia analysis.
  • Monitors and documents cardiac rhythm strips per hospital guidelines.
  • Communicates changes in patient telemetry status according to policy.
  • Applies and removes telemetry equipment from patients using proper technique and universal precautions.
  • Troubleshoots monitoring equipment and paging system as necessary.
  • Performs activities related to equipment maintenance including routine battery changes, equipment checks, and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains monitoring supplies at designated par levels.
  • Communicates effectively with nursing and medical staff.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of course in arrhythmia detection OR one (1) year of directly related experience

Preferred:

  • Three months of job-related experience.

Completion of formal coursework in EKG.

  • Daily Work Times: 7:00pm-7:30am
