A leading hospital in Huntsville is seeking a Monitor Tech to provide surveillance of telemetry monitors and support high-quality patient care. The role involves interpreting EKG rhythms, notifying nursing staff of changes, and maintaining equipment. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and some experience, with C.N.A or EMT certification preferred.
Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Monitor Tech provides surveillance of telemetry monitors throughout the hospital. Performs accurate EKG rhythm interpretation and other electrocardiography functions that support the healthcare team in delivering high quality care. Provides notification to appropriate nursing staff when telemetry monitor changes are noted. Serves as a patient advocate within the healthcare system. Maintains adequate unit stock and equipment inventories, provides clerical support related to patient care. Demonstrates understanding of the philosophy and objectives; adheres to policies and procedures of the department and organization.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: One year of experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification: None required; current C.N.A certification, EMT-B or EMT-I preferred.
Frequent: sitting & reaching.
Occasional: standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, & kneeling.
Visual and hearing acuity required. Work is mostly inside, with good ventilation and comfortable temperature. Possible exposure to: toxic/caustic chemicals or detergents, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, radiant energy, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens.
