Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled RF Telemetry Engineer to support the New Glenn launch vehicle. In this role, you will define telemetry requirements and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure data transmission meets specifications. The ideal candidate has a B.S. in a relevant field and at least 5+ years of aerospace industry experience.

Job description

Overview

At Blue Origin, we are developing the New Glenn launch vehicle—a reusable, human‑capable heavy‑lift orbital launcher. This role supports the New Glenn Launch System Architecture team by leading all aspects of RF telemetry planning and assessment. The successful candidate will define telemetry requirements, create mission‑specific plans, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure data transmission meets rigorous specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain telemetry requirements for New Glenn
  • Prioritize telemetered data within available bandwidth to meet mission requirements
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to support program telemetry needs
  • Design interfaces between analysis and operations tools tightly coupled with mission planning
  • Develop tools for managing flight data planning
  • Deliver creative and resourceful solutions to meet complex data needs
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 5+ years of aerospace industry experience
  • Extensive experience using complex data systems and tools
  • Experience with spacecraft subsystems
  • Strong understanding of basic network protocols and familiarity with the OSI model
  • Experience in RF communication protocols for space‑to‑ground data links
  • Knowledgeable in terrestrial network communication systems
  • Strong understanding of complex systems engineering principles and methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of aerospace industry experience preferred
  • Experience with mission planning systems, tools, and processes
  • Experience with integration of network and RF communication systems
  • Strong understanding of basic digital signal processing for high‑sampling sensors
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with requirements definition and management, preferably using DOORS Next Generation
  • Experience with configuration and product data management tools, preferably Windchill
  • Familiarity with version control, preferably Git
Background Check
  • Required for all positions: Blue’s Standard Background Check
  • Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if the role requires duty on a military installation
  • Required for positions that involve operating commercial motor vehicles: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements, and hazardous materials training as applicable
  • Required for certain roles: Merchant Mariner Credential and related testing
