JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides nurse/clinician with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythm. Monitors heart rhythm patterns to detect, record, and report normal/abnormal heart patterns, normal/abnormal ECG interval measurements and proper/improper pacemaker or implantable defibrillator function utilizing telemetry equipment.

Monday - Friday

8:00 AM 0 5:00 PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns and prior variances.
  • Observes cardiac monitor and notifies the nursing and/or medical staff of any abnormal heart rhythm variances.
  • Manages telemetry equipment and supplies.
  • Must successfully complete a competency examination as defined by department competency requirements for Telemetry Monitor Technicians.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree or higher preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The individual must be able to:· Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff.
