Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Round Rock is seeking a Monitor Technician to monitor, record, interpret, and document patients' electrocardiograph tracings on telemetry monitors. This role reports arrhythmias to medical staff and supports the care team.

The position requires enrollment in the Cardiac Rhythm Test within a year if not certified. Excellent communication and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Must enroll in cardiac rhythm test within one year if not currently certified.
• Understand heart anatomy and physiology related to waves, complexes, time, and voltage.
• Knowledge of telemetry services.
• Verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operates cardiac monitoring systems and rhythm printers.
• Observes and documents ECG monitors and reports abnormalities to staff.
• Maintains and cleans equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Sets up central station and monitors alarms; addresses false alarms.
• Labels monitor strips to show events like defibrillation and CPR.
• Records patient rhythm and changes in rhythm and condition.
