Job Description

The Telemetry Monitor Technician role aligns with Northwestern Memorial's mission, vision, and values. It involves providing continuous cardiac monitoring for patients via the Central Telemetry Monitoring Center, ensuring safety and timely communication of any rhythm changes to nursing staff.

Responsibilities
  1. Monitor up to 48 patients' cardiac rhythms continuously, interpret and document EKG rhythms, ensure good quality tracing, and notify nurses of low battery or rhythm issues.
  2. Manage alarms per protocol, maintain alarm configurations, and document all interpretations accurately in patient records.
  3. Admit and discharge patients into the monitoring system following physician orders, including proper setup and confirmation with nursing staff.
  4. Review telemetry needs every 24 hours, discussing with nurses and physicians as necessary.
  5. Maintain telemetry equipment, including cleaning, repairing, and reporting damages, and provide education to nursing staff on arrhythmia detection.
Qualifications

Required: Passing advanced arrhythmia detection within 6 weeks of hire, high school diploma, healthcare experience, excellent communication skills.

Preferred: Graduate of a cardiovascular tech program or paramedic course, experience with central telemetry systems.
